The Bonanza casino in North Reno is a comfortable, but average small slot house, with the outstanding Cactus Creek steakhouse attached.

Since it is a local's casino in North Reno, it seemed to draw a little older and less affluent crowd from the area. At the same time, we noticed a few people in the coffee shop who were likely UNR students taking advantage of the inexpensive menu.
Comfort & Safety
Located on the outskirts of Reno, there's very little around the Bonanza. We haven't been there late at night, but in the middle of the day there was no problem. The bathrooms were clean, but not in any way elegant.
Bonanza Reno Gaming
The casino floor was filled with new machines, with a newer interior done in a Southwestern theme--no glaring neon here! The low ceiling made the place feel comfortable rather than large, and sometimes it allowed nearby smoke to waft over to you.
Slot Machines (Review: B-)
All the machines at the Bonanza were very new and clean, including several progressive machines as well. There was a solid mix of video poker, but we were disappointed to find 9/6 odds only at $1 bets, many had 8/5 odds at $0.05, and a few machines were even 7/5. We did find a lucky streak on a Red, White, and Blue three-reel slots, which always makes for a fun time!
Table Games (Review: C)
There were 5 table games at the Bonanza, three blackjack, one three-card poker, and a craps table. The area was clean and comfortable, but obviously very small. Keep in mind that many small local slot-houses (hence the name) don't have any table games at all.
Player's Club (Review: B-)
Fort Reno is the Player's Club at the Bonanza. We were pleased to get $5 in Free Play when we signed up, and also easily achieved 250 points on our first day to get a 'free' t-shirt! We look forward to seeing what offers the Bonanza sends us to tempt us to return (check back later for that!)
Sportsbook (Review: C+)
There is a small sportsbook window run by the Club Cal Neva. A fine place to run in and make a bet, but there were no games showing, and no seating.
Bonanza Reno Dining
There are two restaurants at the Bonanza, the high-end Cactus Creek steakhouse, and the value-oriented 24-hour Branding Iron Cafe. Both restaurants are at the opposite end of the spectrum, and each serves their niche well.
Cactus Creek Steakhouse (Fine Dining, $$$$, B)
The Cactus Creek Steakhouse at the Bonanza Casino is a good steakhouse with fun decor and good service. They serve a tasty meal in a casual steakhouse experience. If you want a very good steak but don't want to dress up for the occasion, this may be the place for you.
Branding Iron Cafe (Casual Dining, $, B+)
24-hour Value is the goal at the Branding Iron Cafe, and they hit a home-run on that. You're sure to find something you like on the extensive menu, with prices all very reasonable. Buffets are also served here on Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday Brunch.
