Harrah's Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino rises up behind its lakeside 'cousin' Harveys across the street, offering additional restaurants and facilities that nicely complement any stay in Lake Tahoe, whether at Harrah's or Harveys. (You can walk between the two properties by way of an underground passageway, or simply walk across the street.)
There is a special Seven Stars/Diamond check-in opposite the front desk, and the friendly folks there also will take care of dining and spa reservations for you, as well as print airline boarding passes for eligible passengers.
A small coed fitness center is available to all guests on a complimentary basis, but Reflections Spa requires an additional admittance charge – which used to be complimentary for Seven Stars cardholders and their guests. Seven Stars cardholders do get a 20 percent discount on services (see below).
Premium and Executive Rooms offer stunning views of Lake Tahoe and/or the surrounding Sierras. High-speed Internet access is dependable, and there are refrigerators in the Executive Rooms. Decor is pleasant and the rooms spacious.
Harvey's Casino Lake TahoeCasino overview
There is nothing particularly distinctive about Harrah's, and it features all the usual slots and table games. Complimentary drink service in the casino is relatively frequent; and dealers, slot attendants and servers all are extremely friendly and helpful.
Harrah's South Shore Room hosts groups representing rock, blues, country and classics, plus there is a nightclub, Peek. 'Lounge' acts perform periodically on the center stage behind the main casino bar.
Dining is where Harrah's really shines. Located on the top floor of Harrah's and offering spectacular views is Friday's Station Steak & Seafood Grill. Any confusion with the TGIFriday's chain is purely coincidental.
Formerly open 24 hours seven days a week, the American River Cafe is open 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. all other days. [Hours subject to change.]
Finally, the Forest Buffet, also located on the top floor, is considered the best buffet in Lake Tahoe. Even if you don't like buffets, go for breakfast or lunch and enjoy the view. The Highlander Bar at the buffet is a great place for drinks at sunset and also is open for late-night dining, 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. [Hours subject to change.] You'll also find table seating and video poker.
There is also a 'food court' which includes Fatburger and Thai Asian. NOTE: Neither Fatburger nor Thai Asian accepts Caesars Rewards Quick Rewards or comp slips.
Harrah’s now charges for parking, but Seven Stars, Diamond and Platinum cardholders are exempt. Here are the details:
Outdoor Self-Parking - Present your Caesars Rewards card to the parking attendant who will be stationed at the entrance to the parking area. If you do not have your card with you, insert your parking ticket and players card into the pay kiosk at multiple points inside the building and garage.

Should you choose this for your Annual Retreat?
Lake Tahoe is an absolutely gorgeous place to be during any time of the year. But, remember that weather may make it difficult to get there during the winter, so plan accordingly. You will probably fly into Reno and take a limo or rent a car to get to Tahoe. Depending on what time your flight arrives, and your originating location, you may want to consider spending the night at Harrah's Reno before making the trek to Tahoe.
With Harveys (and its selection of restaurants) across the street, Reflections spa, skiing in the winter/boating and swimming in the summer, Harrah's should be a popular destination for Seven Stars trips. It would be easy to spend four nights (and $500) here – especially since you can 'cross charge' to your room any meals, spa treatments, etc., even if they take place at Harveys.

Bill's Lake Tahoe was a casino located in Stateline, Nevada owned and operated by and connected to next-door Harrah's Lake Tahoe.
Bill's opened during the 50th Anniversary of Harrah's in 1987 and was named in honor of William F. Harrah. There was no hotel, although there was an on-site tattoo parlor. Bill's also hosted UFC pay per view fights at all of its bars. In January 2007, Bill's became the only non-smoking casino in Tahoe. After years of business decline, Bill's Casino closed its doors for good January 4, 2010.
The site and surrounding parcels of land were purchased by attorney Melvin Laub in March 2010 for US $5.22 million with the intention of turning the location into a large strip club. It was later reported that the site would be transformed into a mall including a pharmacy, a jewellery store, a tattoo studio, a Pilates studio, a clothing store, another casino and a restaurant and bar.
The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported on a safe was discovered behind a false wall during renovations during August 2011.
On August 23, a posting on reddit by the son of the purchaser of Bill's casino prematurely stated the opening of the safe will be documented on reddit. The Oprah Winfrey Network gained exclusive access to the opening of the safe for the TV show Found, that is in development and the broadcast date is not known. The safe was opened 14 Sep 2011 in the presence of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigator, but did not find anything relevant to an investigation.
